Hillary Freeman, Esq. of Freeman Law Offices, LLC, has been named this year’s recipient of POAC’s (Parents of Autistic Children) Robin Sims Trailblazer Award.

The purpose of the award is to recognize those who stand up and speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves. Freeman, who has made significant contributions to individuals with special needs for more than a decade, is deeply committed to her work representing people with disabilities and their families. As a sister of a man with autism, she is able to combine personal experience with her legal training to help families advocate for services and supports across the lifespan.

“It is an honor to receive this award,” says Freeman. “Robin Sims was a relentless advocate and an incredible inspiration to all of us fighting for the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities. I am humbled that POAC has recognized my work in the field.”

Extremely particular in the selection process, POAC has only selected three recipients in the past four years for this award.

“We are thrilled to be presenting Hillary Freeman with this award,” says Gary Weitzen, Executive Director of POAC. “Hillary is tireless in her efforts for individuals with developmental disabilities. She goes above and beyond in order to assist families with information and choices. The countless pro-bono speaking engagements on a myriad of topics including special education, adult services, guardianship and estate planning have been invaluable to countless parents and family members.”

Freeman will receive her award at POAC’s annual gala which will be held on February 28, 2015 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, NJ. For more information visit www.poac.net.
